It is time that we, who are conscious of our present position, become far more active and vocal about our feelings regarding America's present course. Our President now seems to be determined to engage us in another war to satisfy himself, and his Neocon associates. Many have begun to call for the impeachments of president George W. Bush and vice president Richard Cheney. Many are also calling for their indictment of war crimes and high crimes and misdemeanors.

     Those of us who are not sleepwalking are very apprehensive about NSA turning its surveillance equipment upon American citizens.  Millions of Americans have their telephone records input into a massive database storing our information, i.e., whom we call, and who it is, that is calling us. This is a direct violation of our Fourth Amendment rights.

     I appeal to everyone who reads this to contact your State Representatives, as well as, Senators to voice your concern about the direction the Bush Administration is taking our country.  The philosopher Alghieri Dante said-"the hottest places in hell will be reserved for those who in a moment of crisis chose to remain silent."  Sometimes silence can become deafening. 

     It is up to each one of us individually and then collectively to safeguard our civil rights and human rights.  We must never take our civil liberties for granted.  I urge everyone concerned to become associated with the activist group of  his/her choice and study ways to implement nonviolent direct action, and if need be new methods of civil disobedience.
